0110 - A Stone In the River

When I was trying to come up with a good title for this, I suddenly thought of a song by Dutch cabaretier and songwriter Bram Vermeulen. It's called 'De Steen', and the lyrics are in Dutch, but a friend of my translated it a while back (for the benifits of one mr. Tom McRae) and this is how they go:

The Stone

I have moved a stone in a river
The water runs different than before
You can't stop the current of a river
The water always find a way around

Maybe once filled by snow and rain
The river will take my stone away
To let it, polished and rounded,
Rest in the calm of the sea

This is sort of how I feel about the whole 0110 concert, even if it didn't really change anything: people were affected by it, and for once they were united. It was an eye-opener: I am not the only one in this country who believes that we can all coexist peacefully...

Let's hope the water will never run the same way...
